We had a fantastic day recently at a photo shoot with Sam Rose, director of LBS Watch Straps and Batteries. It was a chance for us to try out a variety of different strap combinations with some of our more modern and vintage watches and there were some interesting and surprisingly successful results. LBS have hundreds of different strap choices and designs and we paired various straps with the Rolex Datejust II, IWC Annual Calendar, IWC Aquatimer, Omega Speedmaster and a vintage Omega Constellation.
The combination of the green crocodile strap on the Rolex Datejust II was terrific-the vivid green strap really brought out the darker green ‘Wimbledon’ dial of the watch.
Being a dive watch a black rubber strap was the obvious choice for the IWC Aquatimer.
We decided upon a blue crocodile strap with white stitching for the Omega Constellation. The watch was originally produced with a metal bracelet but I like the more formal look of this combination.
The Omega Speedmaster is such an iconic watch with the signature metal bracelet that finding another strap which was sympathetic to the classic lines was tricky. We chose this brown leather strap.
The photographer did a great job of capturing the watches and straps in a number of settings and lights. These are some of my favourite shots.
Sam is a good friend of mine and it was great to be able to work with him on this project. I hope this is the start of a regular collaboration as his company’s watch straps are fantastic and I would love to experiment with more of them on some of our more outlandish pieces. I'm thinking a lime green Nato strap on an Omega Constellation Beta 21...Too bold? We'll see.
